Fine Cut Isla Update

Wednesday, 15 July 2009

Fine Cut Isla – the horse sponsored by Fine Cut and ridden by Joanna Bovis has won her first British Eventing point for a double clear at Shipton Moyne, Tetbury, Glos.
Isla and jo have been competing together for 3 years now working hard with trainer Robert Stevens. They competed at Intro level British Eventing during 2006, working towards Pre-Novice in 2007/2008, after taking some time off during 2008 Isla has come back better and stronger during 2009 and Jo took the brave decision to take on the world and start competing at Novice Level.

The event at Shipton Moyne, was Jo’s 3rd event at this level this year and after a good dressage of 35.2, went on to go double clear at the show jumping and cross country.

Jo commented on the XC:- “The XC was awesome, it was a tricky course using lots of natural features and making good use of the ground undulations, there were two waters, she had to jump a narrow log in the water which she’s never done before and was very scary so she had to jump extra big! She also jumped the biggest drop she’s ever jumped, even bigger than the one at Great Tew! And she jumped a corner with no mishap this time luckily! Unfortunately we got 23 time faults!! Which put us into 23rd place, I did take one long route as there was a big fence with a ditch behind to a skinny and so I went for the easier option as she can be green about ditches but that wasted a lot of time but at least we were clear!

That’s the first ever point I’ve got let alone Isla so that’s very exciting! She’s out of Pre-Novice now!!”

Fine Cut are proud to sponsor Joanna and wish her and Isla many more happy eventing days.
