Laser engraved cornflakes - what next?

Wednesday, 14 October 2009

Kellogs announced today that it may start branding individual cornflakes in each packet to protect itself against similar imitation products on the market.

Th individual flakes will be laser marked and a certain proportion will be inserted into each box and could mark the beginning of other schemes to protect brands - if deemed successful.

Fine Cut feels the operation will not only be time consuming but a costly venture, as laser engraving logos onto cornflakes is "nutty" and more suitable to their other brand 'Crunchy Nut'. However, in all seriousness, Kellogs must have a fairly logical reason to proceed with the idea and a suitably large budget for it to succeed.

If you have any laser engraving or marking projects that require a quality finish at an affordable price (no cereal thanks) please get in touch with colin@finecut.co.uk
